Jacques Gonthier, a renowned French Chef, discovered Senegal and fell in love with the Casamance region more than 30 years ago. After years of vacations in beautiful Senegal, Jacques decided to establish himself here in 2011. His lifelong friends Pape and Maëlle who own the nearby Casamance campsite were invaluable in helping make Jacques’ dream come true: CasaMotel’s construction was decided.
Jacques has worked in the catering and hotel industry for more than 40 years. He was the original owner of Le Beudant, a famous restaurant in the very chic XVIIth arrondissement of Paris, France, which specialized in gourmet cuisine from the Perigord Region in France. He received the one star award from the Michelin guide.
In 1987 Jacques sold Le Beudant, and started a catering company that organized special events (take-away and rentals for culinary events).Jacques is now more determined than ever to live his dream: manage a hotel in the Casamance region.
